The Honeymoon

THE BRIDE AND GROOM"S

Honeymoon
has not always been post-Wedding
Vacation Together,
As we Know it today.
The word actually Originated
In northern Europe from a tradition
Involving wine made from mead and Honey,
In order to bring GoodLuck,
The Newlywed couple drank the sweet wine,
Called METHEGLIN,
for a month as after the wedding. Since a month
was known as a "moon",
this period acquired the name
Honeymoon.

The Weddding Party

During the "Marriage by capture"era,
close friends of the groom-to-be assisted him when he
KIDNAPPED THE BRIDE
from her family.
The first Ushers
and the best men
were more liker a small army, fighting off the bride's
angry relatives as the groom rode away with her.

The Wedding Party

Bridesmaids and maids of Honor
became more common
when weddings were planned.
for several days before the marriage.
A Senior maid
Attended to the Bride-to-be,
This maid or matron of honor,
as we Know her Today,
ensured that the Bridal wreath was made and Helped the Bride get dressed.
All Bridesmaids helped the Bride decorate
for the wedding feast.
For a long time ,
Bridesmaids wore dresses
much like the brides gown,
while ushers dressed in clothing
that was similar to the groom's attire.
This Tradition began for protectrion
agaisnts evil rather than for uniformity;
if evil spirits or jealous suitors
attempted to harm the newlyweds,
they would be confused as to which two people
were the BRIDE AND THE GROOM

you wedding
and the Other dresses
can be "matched" to that.
Bring Someone with you to shop for your Gown
a friend or relative who can be supportive. yet objective.
It is probably best to bring just one person.
too many opinions can make the task even more difficult!

and formal wear (Sometimes only for women. But sometimes men's and Women formal wear).
Their salespeople specialize in helping bridges find a wedding gown.

BANQUET / RECEPTION FACILITIES

Before you begin your search for a faculty.
think about what features and activities you want to
include in your reception.
so you will know whether the facility
can meet your needs. For example.
if you want dancing, you will need a site
with ample space separate from the area
where the tables are (or you will have to arrange to have the tables
moved out of the way after the meal).
does the facility have a sound amplication system?
is the floor surface adequate for dancing?Etc.
Guest often have to wait
at the reception
while the bride and groom
have their wedding photos taken.
here are a few ideas about
how to keep themm happy while they're waiting
*for an early afternoon wedding people may be hungry.
so you provide simple hors d'oeuvres
like crackers,cheese and veggies
and dip that will take the edge off their hunger.
but not cost you very much extra.
*make up place mats or cards for the tables
that have trivia or other conversation starters.
(Trivia about the Bride and Groom.
General Wedding-Customs trivia,etc)
You could even jsut out cards from one
of the commercially made
trivia game on the tables!
General Tips

If your parents are paying
for all or most of the wedding
it may be a good idea to ask them at the start
for the total amount
they will be willing to spend
on your wedding
rather than having to "Check in"
about each item
as you decide upon it.
